Rich Related Posts plugin facilitates related posts functionality where posts can be enriched with groups of links to blog posts (or other sites), defined by headline and thumbnail.
RRP is a powerful CMS solution to quickly and easily create multiple groups of rich related content with images using tools such as combination search/entry fields and element units consisting of headline + permalink + image url. Shortcode can be instantly inserted into posts, and can even be used in sidebar text widgets.
You need to be able to locate content and present it to visitors on your site with images and links back to your posts, pages as well as even other sites. But it can be difficult and require a lot of trial and error to get complex layouts of images and text to come out looking right. Sometimes it’s next to impossible to get something published looking like you need it to without it slipping around and getting compromised switching back and forth between the HTML and visual editors. This is a plugin for those of us who don’t want to have to program tables into our posts. It’s also a plugin for WordPress users looking for a fresh new way to search for and enter content.
Locating Content:
RRP simplifies the process of searching for content and entering the elements of the data. RRP virtually eliminates the need to manually copy and paste URLs from your browser’s URL field into WordPress. The same goes for tracking down images within the WordPress admin and Media Library — most specifically when it comes to thumbnail images associated with posts. You no longer need to drill into a post to copy and paste the image URL. You don’t even need to drill into the WP Media Library either. Instead, combination search/data-entry fields go directly to archive to provide a list of links.
Entering Content:
When you click on a link from the Rich Related Posts search results page, both the post’s url as well as the associated post thumbnail url are automatically entered together to become part of a single RRP ELEMENT. The last component is the ELEMENT’s custom HEADLINE which you type in — now you’ve created a contained unit of data that represents your single piece of content.
Repeat the steps up to 10 ELEMENTS until you’ve got a group of RICH RELATED POSTS.
Publishing Content:
Insert the shortcode into your post and RRP handles the layout. No more messing around trying to get a layout of images and graphic to hold in place. RRP locks your display and presents it just the way you want it as per the RRP TEMPLATE you have customized specifically for your site.
Conveniently enter the same RRP GROUP in post after post, after post.
While on any WP edit post page, find the Rich Related Posts EDITOR in your center column where you can create up to ten groups.
When editing a new group or an existing one, you add and edit elements within the group. Elements consist of :
HEADLINE
POST URL
IMAGE URL
Each field is a combination search and data entry field, so enter a search term…oh, say Jack Johnson…
…and click the magnifying glass next to the field.
When you click on a link, the POST and IMAGE URLs are automatically entered into the fields.
Manually enter HEADLINE text and create more elements until you have completed your group. Name the group and save.
Click on the INSERT CODE button to automatically place the shortcode into your post, i.e. “[ richrelatedpost id=10 ]”
